Very disappointing. Harris has thrown out story and character study. Way too much sex--and way too graphic sex for this to be a teen book. Sookie not only vividly describes her sexual encounters, she is consumed with lust for every non-human male she meets. And as a strange authorial choice, Harris has Sookie get upset when people think she is a slut. Skip this one (especially if your getting these for a teen). Book #5 goes back to story development, character interaction, and a non-slut heroine.

After reading my first Sookie Stackhouse novel, I admit I got a little obsessed so I powered through three more in the last two weeks. I'm still not quite in the know about everything in Season 4 of True Blood so I'm sticking to my resolution to not read ahead of myself. But the books are so different from the series. I really applaud the writers for taking Harris' storylines and making them much more. Not to say I haven't enjoyed the books, because I certainly have! Great summertime reading. And it has to be said that the series certainly gives you a good mental picture of the characters while reading the novels, let's face it, True Blood has well cast their hotties!

This is the first book in the series to really hook me, though of course you have to go into it knowing to expect a fun story, not "great literature." It's awesome to see a new side of Eric, and I always enjoy seeing what new supernatural societies Harris can come up with.

This is my favorite book thus far in the series. I love all of these characters. I don't necessarily like Ms. Harris's wording all the time, but the plots are just great. So exciting, and this was the best one yet!

Book #4. Probably my favorite! The bold, brazin, leader vampire Eric has been struck with a curse in the form of amnesia and ends up running by Sookie's home in very little clothing with no clue of who she is, or himself. Sookie ends up taking care of Eric while his progeny Pam looks for answers.

Fabulous novel that I loved so much I read in less than a day.

One of my favorite books in the series. I love the Sookie/Eric relationship. I love seeing the kinder, gentler, more human side of Eric. Although I love it best when he is himself. It is a nice change of pace. Great book...Great series. Definitely recommend.

So far, I've enjoyed Dead to the World the most out of the Southern Vampire Mysteries. I love both Eric and Alcide and am glad that they received a little more of the spotlight this time around. I also appreciated the relative lack of Bill in the story. I'm looking forward to continuing this series.

Of all the Stackhouse books, this one is my far-and-away favorite! It's so awesome to see a different side to Eric and to let Sookie explore that side of him. I hope this book makes it into the TV series as it didn't take them but three seasons to cover what took the author many more books to write.

Of all the Vampire romances I have read, Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Supes (Supernaturals) are my favourites. Sookie herself is adorable - typical American blonde, beautiful figure, slight frame but her ability to read minds has always set her apart from the "normal" people of Bon Temps, Louisiana. Sookie works as a waitress at Merlotte's Bar and Grill. She's not educated but she's smart.
Her Supe world includes Vampires, Weres (Werewolves), Shifters and in this book witches, fairies and wiccans.
OK, so you have to be in the mood for this crazy stuff, but if you are, Charlaine Harris sure writes an entertaining story.
I first met Sookie in Dead Until Dark. She became attracted to Bill Compton, the gorgeous vampire next door, for many reasons but especially because she couldn't read his mind! He introduced her to his vampire world, including his hunky Viking-type boss, Eric, who owns Fangtasia, a vampire bar in the next town.
In this story Bill and Sookie have had a serious falling out and she rescues amnesiac, Eric, who she hides at her house because one of the most evil witches of all time, Hallow, is after him.
Many of Sookie's other admirers and suitors are featured in this story: Sam Merlotte, her Shifter boss, werewolf Alcide Herveaux (from the previous book Club Dead) and a new one - Calvin Norris, a were from Hotshot.
Besides the witches hunting down Eric, Sookie's brother Jason has disappeared so the story focuses on hunts, danger and action.
Sookie is the type of girl all the Supes naturally want to protect and/or bed, so there's lots of sexy action as well!
For a fun-filled, action-packed, romantic supernatural story - turn to Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse novels - they don't disappoint!
