Told over one day, this story is of both the heroine's ancestors a century ago and of her marriage today. Julie's great-great uncle was an Arctic explorer and she is archiving his letters, diaries and possessions in his house, in which she and her husband now live. The novel is restrained and dreamlike. Sackville has been compared with a young Rachel Cusk and a young Virginia Wolff. I liked this book.
