Great book about two people who have always cared about each other but are not able to be together. Ellen's parents expect her to marry a wealthy man. They do not expect her to love the man she marries - all that is important to them is that she is well cared for. Daniel has always cared for Ellen but he is not wealthy. Daniel and Ellen use to be friends but not any more. They can't even seem to get along. Their friend Willa has different plans though. She gets to work together to help her do the town's decorations.... And then after they have spent time working together Daniel rescues another logger from the creek in the winter. Daniel becomes very sick. Soon Ellen finds herself offering to help care for him. Ellen finds herself crying as she cares for Daniel because he might not live. Should she follow her parent's wishes or do what she she feels is right when it comes to Daniel?
