Gentle, loving, humorous book, a delight of reading for cat lovers and people who are humane. I have just seen that VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association) is advertising in the glassed board in VPL's great hall. I have adopted a year ago one female kitten 1.5 years of age from VOKRA, and I adore her. She is striped like a little tiger, she has thick fur (I comb her daily) and she loves to be loved. I can advise you to adopt from VOKRA, which is a responsible and noble organization. There is a modest adoption fee, but they medically treat all rescued cats and those they offer for adoption are healthy. My Jamie (the kitty), when she was captured, had ear mites and she was pregnant, but her child was infected and was about to die just when she was captured. We love Jamie and are thankful to VOKRA for saving our kitty from certain painful death in the street. VOKRA also offers to accept a return of their kitties if you for any reason are unable to keep them. Now, I would like to suggest you to read Cleveland Amory's book: "Ranch Of Dreams," available here in VPL. It's about the creation of a reserve, a ranch in Texas for all kind of animals rescued from being killed or abused by humans. For some reason (maybe to keep it out of the public eye) those who supervise our comments here don't want to post this "Ranch Of Dreams" in the "recently reviewed items" part of the Catalog. Amory was a noble soul, who loved animals and in this nice book he tells true stories of rescuing wild donkeys, wild goats and wild horses from being destroyed by humans in the USA. It is worth to read this enjoyable book, even to have a view of how Nature is being destroyed in America.
